Happy Halloween!!!!

Well it is October 31st and we have successfully survived Halloween. We went to the Mount Dora library for their very scary Halloween egg haunt. Good times were had by all. It took Ayden a little bit to grasp the concept of putting the eggs into his bag, but he caught on. Basically, it was an event held at the library where about 50 kids showed up and had to bring their own flashlighs to hunt for eggs. At the end of the "haunt" you got to trade all of your eggs in for a goodie bag. It was perfect for little kids and was really fun for us as well. Amberleigh was in charge of the camera and I was in charge of the tots. We even got to end the night by passing out candy to the local neighborhood kids. Well its off to bed to rest up for what is sure to be another adventurous day. Posted by Picasa

More Pictures...

Here are two more shots we took outside after our massive carving party. I love my babies and their little silly expressions. They are my pride and joy. Posted by Picasa

Happy Almost Halloween!!!

Here's a few shots of our preparation for Halloween from tonight. Andrew was our jack-o-lantern carver for the night, while McKayleigh and I pretended to be witches- separating the "teeth" from the "brains" of our beheaded person. A few witch cackles later and Ayden assisted for a few scoops- but he was more interested in carving with Andrew. The kids had a blast and we still managed to get to bed on time! Woo-hoo for us! It is yet again another cold night here and we have the windows open and the kids in their warm pre-Christmas jammies. Wow... only about two months left until Christmas. That means a 5 year old and a new year. My, how time flies.

These are some pictures of our very sad but needed release of Donnelly. We were sitting in the bedroom when we heard a wierd "doing" Amberleigh and I both looked at each other in shock. We knew the noise to be that of a door stop in our closet. Upon further examination we realized that our little donnely had escaped his cage and was having a little fun in the closet. It was at this point that we decided that it was best for him to be released into the wild. It was a hard decision to make but it was the correct one. We released him yesterday in our "big oak " in the front yard. He has taken residence. At first he was a little squirmish, but he seemed to catch on pretty fast. These are a few pics of Donnelly in the wild. (our front yard) Posted by Picasa

Finally!

Sorry about the delay in pictures. So much has been happening around here. Ayden also had the flu two nights ago- temperature was near 104* all night- so we had other things to worry about. We fianlly released our little Donnelley into the wild. Wild meaning our front yard and big oak tree...! He's still hanging around- coming to be fed and still jumping into our hands if we offer them. The other squirrels seem to keep to themselves, too. Probably because we let him mark his territory to high Heaven before they came by! We're pretty confident he's going to be okay- and getting to see him every day helps reassure that. Here's a few shots taken at the park- our usual hangout!

Party Pictures

Here's two shots from the birthday party- us outside, of course, because it was another beautiful day! Here's Ayden mowing the sand (genius material, I know...) and a shot McKayleigh wanted when she saw the camera out (as always!). Many, many, many more pictures to come, so keep checking back!

Baby, It's Cold Outside...

We are having some GORGEOUS weather these past few days!!! We had the windows open in the house last night and woke up to frigid floors and crisp air. I LOVE the fall! (Granted, Florida's fall will be for maybe 2 more days, and then we'll be back to rain and skin melting heat...) Enjoying it while we have it, though! We have my cousins' birthday parties today- so plenty of pictures to be shared this evening. Hope to see you back here!

The Best Birthday Present EVER!

Sooo... here we were, driving along, minding our own business, and when what should fall in the street in front of us- a little baby squirrel! It plopped from about 20 feet above the street, flat onto it- face first. Took it a second to shake it off, but once it did, it got up and attempted to walk across the road. We quickly pulled over and our hero for this story, Andrew, jumped out and snatched him out from under some snobby lady's base model Lexus. We bring him in the car (once we see his Mommy is pancaked next to where he landed), and look at each other in awe. (I am quickly realizing everyday is going to be an adventure with Andrew- something ALWAYS happens to us and it is always something so out of the blue!) We decide to take him to our favorite playground to start his new life. We feed at least 20 squirrels everyday we are there- so we felt it was the best place to take him. We set him down- he jumps back into our hands. We set him down again and step back- he bounds back over to us and lands in our hands again... Uh oh... He finally spies a friend and chases him up a tree. The territorial squirrel attacks our little baby, grabs him by the neck, and tosses him back down the tree. Our little one screams in shock and pain and plops back on the ground- and all too familiar place at this point in his short little life. What else could we do?!? We scooped him up and proceeded to try one last drop off point. Off to PetSupermarket we went- asking about shelters or rehabs for baby squirrels. No luck. The strange part about the whole day, is that people we ran into all said they had a pet squirrel before and how tame and fun they were. So.... we decided to keep him. We named him Donnelley, from the street he landed upon, and bought a little bird cage and a few bags of different bird seeds and snacks. We soon came to find out that he prefers (and ONLY eats) our free GIANT box of Cheerios that we already had! He now has become our adored pet that both we and the kids love- making him little hammocks out of t-shirts and nests as well. Here's a few shots of our little adopted pet, Donnelley! Posted by Picasa
