Immigration Simulation

The second graders have been studying the immigration into Ellis Island these past few weeks. McKayleigh was given a new identity during her studies- Adelle, a 41 year old Russian immigrant with a limp that is bringing her stepdaughter along. She is going to be labeled with an "L" on her back and the teachers will be monitoring her to see if it is due to illness and she'll be denied entrance or just a limp and she is free to enter America. They all have their paperwork with their pictures and names on them to carry along, McKayleigh has an extra copy of a real Russian immigration document (go Mommy!), and they will close their studies with costumes from the era and either a side dish or dessert from another country. We are currently cooking corned beef (skipped the cabbage!) and working on the cane and limp. They have also taken their class studies into their specials classes- studying the works of Peter Max and creating their own Lady Liberty paintings. After all of this hands on learning, you KNOW these kids are going to retain the story of immigration into America! What a phenomenal school! More pictures after the party tomorrow!

Sinus Infection

Poor little McKayleigh has had a fever for 7 days and exited the shower this morning with a swollen eye. Took her to the doc and she said it was a sinus infection that spread to her ear and eye! Poor thing! Antibiotics are now flowing through her system. ...well, whatever is left after her throwing it up in the toilet... :(

Presents!!!

Opening gifts like a bunch of wild animals! The kids were very blessed with friends and family that folled the kids' stockings and tree with a multitude of presents! There's a shot of Aunt Gramma and Pampaw watching us open gifts live via the webcam- cool gift brought with Paisley's arrival. Our little Mexican Paisley received a chihuahua that sings Feliz Navidad, as well! :)

Happy Birthday, Baby!!!

Pictures from McKayleigh's 8th birthday!!! We all came down with a nasty cold, as you can see in her eyes, and we spent the day in bed. Fun for a birthday... We went out and bought a mini cake for her- which she barely ate. THAT is the way you know your baby girl is sick... if she can't eat a slice of cake... This was day 5 of her fever...

Special Delivery!

Dropping off our letters to Santa last night! Today is Christmas Eve and we are baking cookies for the local firefighters and police for the kids to take to them tomorrow. We're also watching all of the Sata Clause movies and tracking Santa online! Right now, he is in Russia and we just watched him take off from the Great Wall of China!!! :)
